In Memoriam: Pope Francis Requiescat in Pace

It is with deep sorrow, we share the news of the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis this morning April 21st 2025 in his residence at the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta at the age of 88. As the spiritual leader of over a billion Catholics worldwide, Pope Francis was a humble shepherd, a voice for peace, and a tireless advocate for the poor and marginalized. His legacy of compassion, simplicity, and dialogue will continue to inspire the faithful across the globe.

Statement from Bishop Peter on the death of the Holy Father, Pope Francis.

“It was with great sorrow but in the faith of Easter Joy, that I learned this morning of the Holy Father’s death, and commend him in prayer to the loving embrace of his Saviour and master, the Risen Lord Jesus, that aided by the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints, but especially his predecessors, and through the merits of the good he has done and the sufferings he has endured, he may be carried in the arms of the Good Shepherd to the glories of the heavenly Kingdom.

In adding our humble prayers for the repose of his soul we give thanks too for the leadership he has given to the Church and the example given to the world through his faith, compassion, mercy and tireless work for peace and reconciliation between nations, peoples and religions. and the patient endurance demonstrated in his recent illness and suffering.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace.

Amen”

† Peter M. Brignall
